Henry Nicholson (1831-1908) was born in Sheffield, the son of Joseph (a cutler) and his wife, Sarah. Henry married Ann née Nixon in 1849 and two years later was enumerated in the Census as a table knife hafter, living at Burnt Tree Lane. His subsequent address was Stafford Street, where he was a table knife cutler. In 1876, he was listed as a table knife manufacturer at Trafalgar Works, Trafalgar Street.
