This silver plate enterprise can be traced to Thomas Waterhouse, a Sheffield manufacturer, who moved to Birmingham. After commencing business in about 1793, he was involved in a series of partnerships, which apparently began with Waterhouse & Bishop (Freemans's Journal & Daily Commercial Advertiser, 29 June 1846).
