Henry Briggs (1815-1896) was the son of Samuel Briggs, an awl blade maker in Solly Street. According to the Census, Henry was variously an awl blade maker, traveller, and steel merchant (1851); electro-silver plate manager (1861); and electro-plate manufacturer of spoons and forks in Eyre Street (1871).
