This firm was an ivory dealer and scale (handle) manufacturer, which can be traced to John Carlisle (1792-1865). He was an ivory cutter, who married Harriet Driver (1792-1864). They had two sons – Charles George (1821-1889) and William Henry (1833-?) – who followed in the trade.
