Jonathan Hobson, a scissors manufacturer, may have been baptised at St Peter’s on 6 October 1786, the son of Jonathan (a grinder) and Martha. However, the identification is not certain; nor is it clear if this was the ‘Jonathan Hobson’ in partnership with Joseph Cousins in Garden Street (1822) and Brocco Street (1825) making scissors and Britannia metal wares.
