George Willis Hinchliffe
George W. Hinchliffe was born on 3 December 1804, the son of Joseph (a clerk) and Mary. George was a partner with Joseph Haywood in Haywood, Hinchliffe & Co, a merchant and cutlery factor in Charles Street and Carver Street in 1825 and 1828, respectively. Joseph Haywood apparently had married George W. Hinchliffe’s daughter, Sarah, because Joseph Haywood Jun. was later described as Hinchliffe’s nephew. Haywood, Hinchliffe & Co was dissolved in 1829.
