Francis J. Hurst
Francis John Hurst (1878-1957) was born in Sheffield, the son of James and Kezia Hurst. His father was a cutlery manufacturer’s clerk (later a bookkeeper in a water works). Francis worked as an errand boy, but by the end of the century was a cutlery fluter. He was a little mester, whose speciality was carving ivory handles for table cutlery.
