Several cutlers with the name ‘John Wortley’ appear in the listing of Freemen by Leader (1905-06)1. They were scissors smiths. The last two Freedoms granted were in 1788 and 1810. In directories, John Wortley was listed in 1787 as a fine scissors manufacturer, in Trinity Street. The trade mark was ‘AIM’.
