We believe the knife shown in the photograph was made by a Sheffield company in the post-war period.C Batty & Co, pen knife manufacturer, appears in Kelly's 1948 directory at Union Wheel, Alma Street. At the time Union Wheel was home to a total of 23 businesses the majority of which were scissor or knife grinders.
