Established by Charles Frederick Cooke (1889-1962), son of William and Elizabeth. William and his two sons Charles and William were all employed as Spring Knife Finishers and living at 122 Rock Street, Pitsmoor. In 1920 Charles Frederick started Ryalls & Cooke in conjunction with George Ryalls (Tweedale), however the company was dissolved two years later.
By 1939 C. F. Cooke appears under two separate headings and locations in Kelly's Directory of the Engineering Hardware & Metal Trades, 1934, as Cutlery Manufacturers, Weston Street and Table Knife Manufacturers 19 Cambridge Street.
