In 1925, Arthur Martin & Co was listed in a Sheffield directory as a cutlery and electroplate manufacturer at Eyre Street. The owner was Arthur Bertram Martin (1879-1948), the son of a bank clerk. Arthur Bertram had worked as a manager for Sheffield Silver Plate & Cutlery Co Ltd . By 1928, Arthur E. Martin & Co had appeared. It was operated by Arthur Eric Martin (1905-1973), who was A. B. Martin’s son. This firm, too, was short-lived. By 1930, when Arthur Eric married, he was a wholesale confectioner; his father was a traveller. The trademark ‘A. E. Martin & Co’ was later acquired by Gee & Holmes.
