This table knife cutler was listed at Pool Works, Burgess Street, in 1905 (this was a tenement-type factory, which also housed horn and scale cutter, William Horridge & Co.). He may have been John James Bowden (1859-1940?). He was the son of John (a table knife hafter) and his wife, Ann. When John Jun. was born, the family lived at St Philip’s Road. John Bowden was listed at Pool Works until 1922, when the Sheffield directory recorded that he had moved to Holly Street (this was the year after Horridge had sold up). Bowden’s residence was in Adelphi Street. In 1925, he was listed as a table knife cutler at Adelphi Street alone. He apparently died in 1940.
