Charles William Littlewood (1904-1978) was a scissors manufacturer. He was the son of Morton Littlewood, a scissors grinder, and his wife, Lilly. Charles followed his father’s trade and by 1939 was working as a surgical scissors grinder. After the War, he set up as a maker of ‘quality’ steel scissors based at Union Grinding Wheel, Alma Street, Kelham Island. It is not known when the enterprise began, though it was listed in directories by the late 1940s. In 1950, Littlewood placed a small advertisement in The Ironmonger Diary. By 1957, Littlewood had ceased appearing in directories.
