Edward Robinson (c.1832-1884) was born in New Bolingbroke, near Boston, Lincolnshire. By 1851, he was living in Wakefield and working as a house servant. In 1861, he was a ‘traveller in shop goods’, and living in Ecclesall Road, Sheffield. He registered a silver mark as Robinson & Co, Eyre Street, in 1864. Robinson’s firm had appeared in directories by 1868, as an electro-plater, gilder, and manufacturer of electro-plate wares. Between 1876 and 1879, the address was Pinstone Street; thereafter, Westfield Terrace. Robinson, who employed one man and one girl by 1881, apparently did his own travelling. Edward Robinson, Crescent Road, died on 30 March 1884, aged 52. He was buried in the General Cemetery.
