Edward Haslehurst was born in about 1808 and seems to have started a promising career as a table knife manufacturer. He was first listed in 1834 at 23 Arundel Street. In 1837, Edward Haslehurst & Co was a merchant at Washington Place, Wellington Street, selling table knives and dealing in ivory, stag, and horn. The Sheffield Independent, 24 August 1839, noted the death in Southport of Edward Haslehurst, table knife manufacturer, Washington Works, on 16 August 1839. He was aged only 31.
